Storm Vs. Byron




Here Storm has landed the first hit on a very shocked Byron, she is also grappling him to roll him to the dirt to make the Ice Fang more effective.

Storm has the habit of not waiting for insructions for her first attack. Regardless of whom she's against, she'll strike hard and fast with an Ice Fang. Shiru trained her to strike first to give Storm the element of surprise and also so that the other pkmn would be shaken for the rest of the fight. It might be hard to stay focused when a very large croc' comes at you jaws wide and hissing.

Artist comment :
I drew the sketch for these two while up for vacation yet never really set enough time to play with this image. Fire eludes me, but each time I work with it I get closer to what I want. I also feel the Ice effect was fun.
It was a long day today so I zoned out and just had fun with my favorite drawing style which utilizes heavy lining. Lines everywhere, yeah~
I also tried a new shading thing to show off scales? I need to figure that out, but I like how it looks thus far.
Looking at my competitors entry when I returned I found our ideas to be very similar, but I didn't want to go back and change these poses.
I played with warm and cold colors in the bg, I miss using gradients. I would have done a more detailed bg if I had allotted myself more time and looking at the image now, I don't want to loose any focus on the fighters.
Win or loose I had fun!
